S.S. Bandon sank on 13 April 1917 after striking a mine believed to have been laid by German submarine UC-44 at position 51° 57' N, 07° 35' W - approximately 2.5 nautical miles South-West of Mine Head. She was en route from Liverpool to Cork with a general cargo.
