M.V. Ferncastle was a steam cargo ship that was sunk on 17 June 1943 by torpedoes fired by MTBs from German raider Michel. After being hit by four torpedoes from the MTB's the ship was sunk by gunfire from the raider. Two were killed on board and the others escaped in two boats. One of the boats with 16 men in it was not seen again but the other reached Madagascar 30 days later though six of those on board died during the 2,800 mile voyage.
