STAR CHINESE SWIMMER DIES
News has been received of the death of Phoa Watt-Seng, a member of The Spit Swimming Club, who was in the Merchant Navy. He was on active service when his death occurred.
A Chinese, Phoa, who narrowly escaped from Malaya, was a brilliant diver and was not beaten in the series in which The Spit Club won the inter-club premiership. In addition, he was a fine breast-stroke swimmer and. over 50 yards one of the best in the State, having twice recorded 33 4-5sec.
